Ion Metal is the material research spin-off company of Ion Aerospace, which provides asset integrity and operation management services mainly to aerospace, power generation, oil and gas stakeholders since 2010. Ion Metal conducts material characterization, structural integrity assessment, and machining operations using its own facilities. Alongside machining, Ion Metal possesses specific capabilities in fusion and solid-state welding, and wire-arc additive manufacturing. Ion Metal’s headquarters is situated in the technopolis zone of Middle East Technical University, whereas its laboratories and manufacturing facilities are positioned within designated industrial zones.
Ion Metal has developed a quality management system with the objective of promoting confidence in the operation of fabrication halls and laboratories in accordance with the principles of ISO 9001, AS9100TM, ISO/IEC 17025 and Nadcap audit criteria. Structure and organization of management system of the laboratories and fabrication halls are governed by a quality code and its supplementary documents, which illustrate ability of the laboratories and the fabrication halls for documentation of the management system.
